2 Men Killed in Highway 45 Crash Identified
GLENN COUNTY, Calif. (August 23, 2021) — Camerino Ramos Ortiz and Shawn Barbee both died in a head-on crash Monday morning on Highway 45 also known as State Route 162 in Glenn County.
The collision which happened around 6:15 a.m. on State Route 162 near Briggs-Willows Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Camerino Ramos Ortiz was traveling alone in a Chevrolet Malibu. Barbee was driving a Ford Explorer Sport Trac with a woman and children ages 8 and 10 years old.
The Ford Explorer was heading northbound on Highway 45 when for unknown reasons it veered into the path of the southbound Chevrolet.
During the crash, both men suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the three passengers in the Ford were transported to the hospital for treatment. The woman and two children ages 8-years-old and 10-years-old suffered major injuries in the deadly crash, according to the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office.
Police reopened the highway to traffic around 10:20 a.m. on Monday, Action News Now reports.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the fatal Glenn County crash and liability.
