Amy Merino-Rios, 20, Arrested on Hit-and-run Charges
SELMA, Calif. (June 20, 2023) — Cameron Thomas Bethel, 19, was critically injured in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident Saturday night at Highland Avenue and Floral Avenue in Selma.
He remains hospitalized with major injuries from the crash that happened around 11:15 p.m. on June 17th, according to ABC 30 News.
The young man was reportedly walking across the roadway when he was hit by a car whose driver failed to stop. Paramedics transported the injured pedestrian to a hospital for treatment of a broken back and leg as well as other injuries.
Meanwhile, driver Amy Merino-Rios, 20, reportedly fled and was later located in a nearby parking lot.
Police arrested her for felony hit and run and she was booked into jail.
Investigators do not suspect alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash.
