
Cameron Curtis, 31, ID’d as Suspect in Palm Desert Fatal DUI Crash
PALM DESERT, CA (March 5, 2023) – Authorities detained Cameron Curtis after a DUI crash that killed a pedestrian in Palm Desert.
The sheriff’s department determined that the 31-year-old Palm Desert man was under the influence when the fatal collision took place on Saturday.
The incident happened when Cameron Curtis was driving a gray Nissan Frontier east on Calliandra Street near Alamo Drive in Palm Desert.
At the same time, a female pedestrian was walking along Calliandra. Deputies said for an unknown reason, the car struck the victim.
Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Drunk Driver
The KESQ News and My News LA wrote that the accident occurred on March 4 shortly after 6 p.m. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the pedestrian down on the ground.
Medical personnel pronounced the patient dead at the scene. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, deputies arrested Cameron Curtis on suspicion of homicide and DUI. They soon booked him into the John Benoit Detention Center.
Officers forced Calliandra to shut down for a time between Alamo and Heliotrope Drive following the incident. The Palm Desert DUI crash is still under investigation.
