Canadian Man Hurt, Woman Killed in Motorcycle Accident
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 11, 2019) — Cameron Luchyshin, of Alberta, Canada, was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle Tuesday afternoon when the vehicle crashed near the San Diego County line, killing the woman who was a passenger on the bike.
Luchyshin, who was hurt in the collision, was riding the motorcycle on the Borrego Salton Seaway (S-22), the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported. The roadway is a popular desert driving route for motorcycle enthusiasts. Police believe that Luchyshin lost control of the motorcycle when he approached a bend in the road and the bike veered off the roadway onto the dirt shoulder. The motorcycle overturned and both riders were thrown off the bike.
Paramedics rushed Luchyshin to Desert Hospital to treat him for undisclosed injuries, but the woman died on her way to Pioneers Memorial Hospital.
The CHP is looking into whether strong wind conditions contributed to the crash.
