Camile Nauta, 21, Killed in Arcata Pedestrian Crash on Alliance Road
ARCATA, CA (January 21, 2023) – Camile Nauta was killed after a pedestrian crash on Alliance Road in Arcata.
A GoFundMe page identified the 21-year-old Cal Poly Humboldt student as the victim of the fatal collision on Tuesday.
The incident happened when Camile Nauta, another pedestrian and a dog were walking on a sidewalk along Alliance Road in Arcata. At the same time, a blue Toyota Tundra approached the area near Foster Avenue.
Police said for an unknown reason, the Toyota went off the roadway and onto the sidewalk. In the process, the car hit the victims, went back on Alliance and continued southbound.

The pickup truck then struck an SUV stopped at a stop sign and proceeded through the Foster Avenue intersection. The Tundra drove over the northbound lane and ended up on an embankment.
Camile Nauta died at the scene of the pedestrian accident. The North Coast Journal and KYMKEMP wrote that the collision took place on January 17 at around 4:15 p.m.
The other victim, a 21-year-old student, sustained major leg injuries as a result of the incident. Paramedics rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment.
Officers also pronounced the dog dead. Meanwhile, authorities are still determining if the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to the accident.
The cause of the Arcata pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
