2 Hit and Killed by Vehicle Near Hamilton Avenue
Campbell, CA (May 27, 2023) – Two people died following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 17 early Friday, May 26.
The Mercury News reported a 2000 Mercedes was traveling south on the highway around 4:12 a.m. In the area near Hamilton Avenue, the Mercedes came to a stop in the right lanes of SR-17.
According to the article published online, two occupants from the Mercedes stepped out of the vehicle. While on foot in the roadway, an oncoming 2015 Fiat struck the two people. Our sources indicated the driver of the Fiat swerved to avoid hitting the stopped Mercedes but still struck the two parties standing near the car.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Highway 17 in Campbell
The force from the impact instantly killed one person. At about 6:12 a.m., paramedics sadly pronounced a male party dead at the scene. Authorities added the second victim, a woman, was transported to a hospital but sadly passed away a short time later. The identities of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Fiat, a 22-year-old San Jose resident, escaped death with minor injuries.
Detectives handling the case continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the tragic accident that happened on State Route Highway 17 in Campbell.
