Candido Dimas, 44, Killed in San Jose Crash on Highway 87 (Guadalupe Freeway)
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2019) — Candido Escorza Dimas, 44, of Palo Alto, has been identified as the passenger killed in a collision Saturday on Highway 87, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
The Palo Alto man was riding in an SUV carrying five people that overturned on Guadalupe Freeway about 10:11 p.m. on Saturday night. The driver reportedly was traveling northbound when he swerved to avoid traffic up ahead that had stopped near the West Taylor Street off ramp. The vehicle crashed into a sound wall where it overturned onto its side. Dimas was killed in the crash and paramedics rushed a woman who was also a passenger to the hospital with moderate injuries.
There were no other injuries reported among the people in the SUV and no other vehicles involved, according to the CHP.
San Jose Accident Investigation
Police are reviewing the facts of this accident and will officially determine fault. At this time, it appears the driver in the SUV may be at fault based on the facts we know at this time.
