CANOGA PARK, California (June 7, 2017) — As many as eight people were possibly injured in a collision when a shuttle bus carrying elderly passengers rear-ended a Metro Transit Bus at 21400 Nordoff Street, according to a report by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The crash took place about 9:12 a.m. this morning at Canoga Avenue. The LAFD responded and assessed eight people including a woman with a left arm injury, but it’s unknown whether anyone was hospitalized. The report stated there were no passengers on the Metro bus and the shuttle was occupied by elderly passengers.
Police closed down at least one lane of the roadway and delays and congestion should be expected in the area as they conduct an investigation into liability.
If a bus passenger or motorist is injured in a collision, it’s important that immediate steps are taken to ensure you get the medical treatment necessary for a full recovery and the deserved compensation for all your financial losses. Delaying treatment or not reporting your injuries right away, can significantly impact the value of your case.
It’s very common for vehicles and buses to collide due to traffic congestion in this part of Canoga Park near the Metro transportation facility, but also because some bus drivers or motorists are distracted or do not drive safely. Nordoff Street has had its share of collisions over the years including one involving a DUI driver that caused significant injuries a few years ago. While it may not be possible to avoid a crash, you can take steps to protect your legal rights.
