CANYON COUNTRY (July 26, 2016)- According to the Santa Clarita Valley Signal, a female pedestrian suffered fatal injuries Monday evening while attempting to cross Sierra Highway.
The incident was first reported at 8:45 p.m. in close proximity to a Salvation Army when a vehicle struck the woman.
Per the Santa Clarita Valley Signal, the woman was declared deceased at the scene due to traumatic injuries. She was identified as 53-year-old Darla Hagenson, of Canyon Country.
The article did not mention whether or not the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene or whether or not the victim had been cross in a crosswalk before being hit.
Santa Clarita Valley sheriff officer personnel do not expect any sort of foul play as the investigation remains ongoing to determine the sequence of events leading up to the collision.
The victim remains unidentified while authorities take the time to locate the woman’s family members.
