Driver Suspected of DUI in Crash on State Route 154
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (May 29, 2024) — A two-vehicle car accident involving injuries happened Wednesday on Highway 154 also known as San Marcos Pass Road in Santa Barbara.
One of the motorists is suspected of being DUI at the time of the collision at 7:18 a.m. on May 29th, at East Camino Cielo, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two people were injured when the drivers of a white truck and a white Nissan sedan collided in the eastbound lanes of State Route 154, the report said. The report stated that the crash happened on a blind curve in the roadway.
Paramedics transported at least one of the injured to Cottage Hospital with moderate injuries.
Also, police reported one of the drivers was possibly under the influence of alcohol and or drugs and faces possible felony DUI charges for the crash.
The roadway reopened to traffic at around 8:50 a.m. and investigators continue to work on the case.
