Car Accident on Sunrise Blvd, Near Gold Country Boulevard, Rancho Cordova

EAST SACRAMENTO, Calif., (October 22, 2026) — A two-vehicle car accident resulted in major injuries Thursday on Sunrise Boulevard near Gold Country Boulevard in Rancho Cordova.

The incident occurred on Oct. 22nd at approximately 8:53 AM in the northbound lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision involved a black SUV and a dark sedan. Reports indicate that the sedan was in the roadway while the SUV ended up overturned in a ditch, with one of the vehicles striking both a light pole and a fire hydrant.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported individuals with injuries. The specific nature of the injuries has not been disclosed at this time. All northbound lanes were temporarily closed to allow emergency services to attend to the victims and clear the scene, but have since been reopened.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision. They encourage any witnesses to come forward with information that could aid in the investigation.
