1 Dead, 5 Injured in University City Accident on Miramar Road and La Jolla Village Drive
SAN DIEGO (February 3, 2018) – A 22-year-old man was killed and five people were injured after a traffic collision in the area of Miramar Road and La Jolla Village Drive Friday night, according to FOX 5 and NBC San Diego.
The accident involving two vehicles was reported at 8:22 p.m. in the community of University City.
As per the reports, police said a 15-year-old girl was driving a silver Toyota sedan at a high rate of speed when the car started to slide. The Toyota then hit the center median and went airborne into the eastbound lanes.
The sedan ultimately landed on a Honda minivan carrying two adults and two children who were properly restrained in car seats. The man driving the minivan suffered life-threatening injuries in the wreck.
Police affirmed that the 22-year-old man riding as an unrestrained front-seat passenger in the Toyota and was ejected from the sedan. He died at the hospital.
The 15-year-old driver sustained a broken leg and lacerations while the woman in the van also had broken bones. The two young children were treated for minor car seat injuries.
Meanwhile, the names and condition of all the parties involved have not been yet disclosed. Authorities are still investigating the incident.
