4 Injured Car Crashes into Sacramento Restaurant
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Nov. 28, 2022) — Four people were injured Sunday when a pickup crashed into the Original Mel’s Diner at Howe Avenue just north of Fair Oaks Boulevard.
The solo-vehicle crash happened at the Sacramento intersection on Sunday, Nov. 27th, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and a report by KCRA 3.
Victor Handy was driving the black 4-door Dodge Ram pickup truck when it apparently it lurched forward upon starting it. The truck crashed crashed through a cement curb and shrubs into the front doorway at the restaurant. A family inside the restaurant was paying their bill near the entrance. The father pushed his son out of the way, but he was hurt. Paramedics responded and located four people who suffered minor injuries, the report said.
Meanwhile, the 1950s-style restaurant was temporarily closed down and will be inspected by Sacramento County officials.
It’s unknown what led up to the collision, but it remains under investigation.
