Car Hits Minors on E-Bike, E-Scooter in Crash on Arlington Avenue in Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (August 26, 2026) — Two teens or juveniles riding an e-bike and an e-scooter were severely injured in a car accident Tuesday night at Arlington Avenue at Mitchell Avenue in Riverside.
The collision occurred on Aug. 26th around 7:15 p.m. between the juveniles and a silver Lexus sedan near Rosemary Kennedy Elementary School.
Authorities report there were four juveniles riding electric bikes and at least one on an e-scooter traveling south on Mitchell Avenue approaching Arlington Avenue. It appears they entered Arlington Avenue where they were hit by the westbound Lexus.
The e-scooter became wedged under the front bumper, and the e-bike was damaged and landed on a sidewalk nearby. One of the victims landed on the windshield and became stuck, a witness told ABC 7 News. The vehicle’s front windshield was completely totaled and the roof of the vehicle was crumpled from the violent impact.
Paramedics responded and transported both young people to Riverside Community Hospital with major injuries. Their age and gender was not disclosed. It’s unknown if the driver was injured and if speed, alcohol, or other traffic violations were a factor in the collision.
Meanwhile, the Riverside Police Department is handling the investigation into what happened.
