Carl Knight, 59, Killed in Lower Lake Hit-and-Run on Highway 29 Near Orchard Street
LOWER LAKE, CA (October 19, 2020) – An alleged hit-and-run crash along Highway 29 killed Carl Knight in Lower Lake last week on Thursday.
The California Highway Patrol said the 59-year-old Clearlake man died following the traffic collision on October 15. The fatal accident occurred at 6:30 a.m., south of Orchard Street.
The incident began when Carl Curtis Knight was crossing Highway 29 from the west side of the roadway at the Power Mart. He was walking towards the east side of the road at the time.
Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle in Lower Lake, October 15
According to the Lake County News, a vehicle then struck the pedestrian as he was in the No. 2 northbound lane of Highway 53.
Paramedics responded to the scene and found Knight left lying on the ground as a result of the accident. They rushed him to Adventist Health Clear Lake Hospital where they pronounced him dead.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid and fled the area. Authorities are still looking for the hit-and-run motorist.
