Vehicle Strikes Man Near Metz Road
Shasta County, CA (January 24, 2023) – Carl Smith, a 41-year-old Anderson resident, died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on State Route Highway 273.
On Saturday, January 21, a 2021 GMC was heading south on the highway in Shasta County. At about the same time when the vehicle approached Metz Road, a male party stepped into the traffic lanes. The driver of the GMC hit his brakes to avoid collision, but he still hit the pedestrian.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident in Shasta County
According to Action News Now, rescue teams arrived at the location shortly after 11 p.m. First responders rendered aid to the pedestrian found suffering in injuries. Despite life-saving measures performed by paramedics, the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office identified the fatal victim as Carl Smith.
Several factors surrounding the unfortunate event remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the deadly accident that happened on Highway 273 in Shasta County.
