Passenger, 18, Dies in DUI Collision at Pine Creek Road at Moon Lane Saturday
Salyer, CA (January 18, 2022) – Carlie Kelley, an 18-year-old young woman, suffered fatal injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Pine Creek Road and Moon Lane.
On January 15, a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser reportedly crashed at the intersection in Salyer. The Time-Standard published an article online indicating the vehicle veered from the opposite side into the southbound lanes of the roadway. Officials said the Chrysler went into a ditch and overturned.
Emergency crews arrived at the location shortly after 2:53 p.m. They found the vehicle resting in the middle of the crossing of Pine Creek and Moon.
When medical personnel arrived at the location, they immediately rendered aid to the person found lying on the ground. Despite life-saving measures, the victim sadly succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene. Authorities identified the victim as Carlie Kelley, of Hoopa. She was a passenger in the Chrysler.
The driver apparently showed signs of intoxication during the investigation process. Detectives continue to work at this time to determine several other factors surrounding the unfortunate event.
