Sacramento Man, 21, Killed in Crash on Highway 51
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 7, 2021) — Carlos Chavez, 21, of Sacramento, died in a scooter accident involving a car Saturday morning on Highway 51.
The fatal crash happened in the northbound lanes about 3:01 a.m. on July 3rd, just south of Elvas Railroad Crossing, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner.
A driver in a white Nissan Altima collided with a motorized scooter ridden by Carlos Chavez.
The victim fell off the scooter and wound up in the No. 2 lane of the highway. Unfortunately, the young man suffered fatal injuries on scene. Meanwhile, the Nissan and a white BMW both pulled over on the right shoulder.
The Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner responded to the scene. Later, the coroner identified the victim on their website.
The Nissan suffered front-end damage and police towed it for evidence.
Investigators will determine fault for the deadly crash.
