Carlos Cruz Serna, 51, Killed in Arvin Crash at Malaga and Sunset
ARVIN, CA (September 16, 2022) – Carlos Serna was killed after a car crash at Malaga Road and Sunset Boulevard in Arvin.
The coroner’s office identified the 51-year-old Arvin man as one of the victims in the fatal wreck which took place last week on Friday.
The incident happened when Carlos Cruz Serna was riding as a passenger in a Honda Accord near Malaga Road and Sunset Boulevard in Arvin.
At the same time, a blue 2017 Volvo tractor trailer was going north on Malaga. For an unknown reason, the driver of the big rig failed to stop for a posted stop sign at the intersection with Sunset.
Big Rig Runs Red Light, Hits Car
The California Highway Patrol said in the process, the semi-truck slammed into the car. The Volvo forced the Honda into a utility pole following the collision.
Carlos Serna, and a couple from Arvin riding with him died as a result of the crash. Deputies named the other victims as Martha Alicia Flores, 48; and Monte Harold Johnson, 65.
Loved ones set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral expenses of Martha Flores and Monte Johnson. Meanwhile, the cause of the Arvin crash is still under investigation.
