Carlos Del Pozo, 58, Killed in Santa Rosa Crash on Southbound Highway 101
SANTA ROSA, CA (January 29, 2021) – A car crash killed Carlos Del Pozo along Highway 101 in Santa Rosa on Thursday morning.
The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office said the 58-year-old Sebastopol man died following the accident on January 28.
The incident happened when Carlos Del Pozo was driving a Nissan Versa in the No. 3 southbound lane of U.S. Highway 101. At the same time, a Chrysler 300 sedan was traveling in the No. 2 lane.
For an unknown reason, the Chrysler spun out of control. The California Highway Patrol affirmed that the right side of the car slammed into the left side of the Nissan.
Car Collision Near College Avenue Off-Ramp
Del Pozo lost control of his vehicle and continued to the right. The Versa then struck a guardrail on the right shoulder and plunged down an embankment at the College Avenue off-ramp.
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Santa Rosa man operating the Chrysler ended up unharmed following the collision. The motorist, Jose Rodriguez, stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the authorities.
