Bicyclist, 46, Badly Injured in Hit-and-Run
FALLBROOK (December 14, 2017)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a major injury hit-and-run collision left a bicyclist seriously injured following a collision on Olive Hill Road Wednesday morning.
CHP officials responded to the scene where a bicyclist ID’d as Carlos Floro Torres Mendez, 46, was hit by a vehicle from the rear at around 5:30 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle described to resemble a Toyota Prius, failed to stop and proceeded to flee the scene northbound.
Torres suffered major injuries following the collision and was rushed to Palomar Medical Center. He was last said to have been in serious condition as he underwent surgery quickly after being admitted.
The hit-and-run suspect remains at-large at this time. California Highway Patrol officials believe there to be noticeable damage incurred to the front of the vehicle including hood damage, a shattered front right headlight, and torn plastic off the right front bumper.
San Diego Union Tribune wrote that CHP is looking for 28-year-old Dylan James Kepley and is considering him as the suspect in connection with the crash.
