Pedestrian Fatally Injured in Car Driven by Mayor’s Office Employee
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (June 3, 2022) – Carlos Gonzalez, 36, died Tuesday in a pedestrian accident on the Hollywood (170) Freeway with a car driven by director of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Crisis Response Team.
The deadly crash occurred about 10:30 p.m. on June 1st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Carlos Gonzalez died at the scene on the northbound freeway at Victory Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Also, it’s unknown what led up to the collision between the pedestrian and vehicle.
Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the vehicle involved was owned by the city. Also, the driver was a city employee who also suffered injuries in the crash. Joseph Avalos, a Los Angeles Police Department reserve officer, runs the mayor’s Crisis Response Team that trains volunteers to respond to crisis situation such as collisions.
