Carlos LemosChamo, 24, Seriously Injured in Madera Crash on Highway 145
MADERA (February 29, 2020) – A traffic collision killed a driver and seriously injured his passenger along Highway 145 early Saturday near Madera Ranchos.
California Highway Patrol determined that 24-year-old Merced resident Carlos LemosChamo was riding as a passenger in 2015 Chrysler 300 when the wreck occurred.
According to reports by The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News, the incident happened as the Chrysler headed west on Highway 145 was trying to pass another vehicle.
In the process, it moved into the eastbound lane where it collided head-on with a 2003 Honda Accord. The Honda spun out of control clockwise and stopped upon impact.

CHP affirmed that the Chrysler drove through a barbed wire fence off the north shoulder and flipped over. The car ended up in a cattle pasture and subsequently became engulfed in flames.
The 29-year-old Hollister man driving the Chrysler died at the scene. Medical personnel took LemosChamo to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries.
Paramedics also pronounced the driver of the Honda dead and transported the other two occupants with major injuries. The accident took place at about 2:40 a.m., east of Road 38.
Meanwhile, authorities closed Highway 145 for approximately four hours following the tragic incident. The fatal collision remains under investigation.
