Skateboarder Killed in Visalia Hit-and-Run on Dinuba Boulevard Near Riggin Avenue
VISALIA, CA (August 28, 2020) – Authorities detained the alleged hit-and-run driver in a crash that killed a skateboarder along Dinuba Boulevard on Thursday.
According to reports by Visalia Times Delta and Hanford Sentinel, police determined that 51-year-old Carlos Rivera fled on foot after the collision on August 27.
The incident happened when Rivera was driving northbound on Dinuba Boulevard, toward Orosi. For an unknown reason, he struck a man riding a skateboard at time time.
The accident occurred at around 8:15 p.m., north of Riggin Avenue. Paramedics responded and found the rider left lying unconscious in the roadway, near Orchard Walk shopping center.
Suspected Hit-and-Run Driver ID’d as Carlos Rivera, 51
Medical personnel ultimately pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The name of the deceased individual has not been yet released pending notification of kin.
Meanwhile, police discovered that Rivera abandoned his vehicle and ran away following the crash. Officers later located and arrested the suspect at his home.
Authorities booked him into Tulare County Pretrial Facility on suspicion of hit-and-run causing great bodily injury with a bail set at $115,000.
