2 Injured in Carlotta Crash on Highway 36 Near Post Office

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (October 12, 2021) – Two were injured after a car crash on Highway 36 near a post office in Carlotta.

According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident occurred on Tuesday evening. Officers reported the wreck at about 7:15 p.m.

The incident began when Audi A4 struck a deer for an unknown reason on Highway 36 in the community of Carlotta. The impact pushed the car into the rear of a gray Toyota Corolla.

2 Cars Collide

The incident log added that the Toyota obtained major rear-end damage while the Audi came to a rest with major front-end damage.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the Pepperwood Grove. They attended to two people who ended up hurt as a result of the collision.

One patient sustained moderate injuries while the second survived with minor injuries. The report did not release the name of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.

Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Highway 36 to shut down for about an hour and a half following the wreck. The cause of the Carlotta crash is still under investigation.
