1 Killed, 2 Injured in Carlsbad Crash on Faraday Avenue
CARLSBAD, CA (March 30, 2023) – A car crash killed one person and injured two others on Faraday Avenue in Carlsbad.
According to the San Diego Union Tribune and ABC 10 News, the tragic accident took place on Thursday morning. Officers reported the wreck on March 30 shortly before 7 a.m.
The incident began when a Mazda MX-5 was going east on Faraday Avenue in Carlsbad. The car was traveling at an excessive speed on a wet roadway.
At the same time, a Honda Accord and a Toyota Corolla were heading west. Police said the Mazda then spun out of control and drifted into oncoming traffic.
2 Cars Collide
In the process, the Mazda collided with the Honda and the Toyota near El Fuerte Street. The Mazda caught fire due to the impact of the collision.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived and pronounced the driver of the burning car dead at the scene. The other two motorists ended up hurt as a result of the accident.
Medical personnel rushed both patients to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police forced a stretch of Faraday Avenue to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Carlsbad crash is still under investigation.
