Victim Struck by Pickup while Assisting Another Motorist
California Highway Patrol said the man pulled onto the shoulder of the northbound 5 Freeway, south of Palomar Airport Road, to help a friend whose vehicle broke down. He was standing in front of his car when a pickup truck drove onto the shoulder and struck him.
The victim was rushed to a trauma center with injuries described as life-threatening. His name has not been yet disclosed.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the pickup driver fled toward the Palomar Airport Road exit. The vehicle was described as a newer-model, white Toyota Tacoma with right front and possibly right side damage, and apparently sustained a flat tire on the right side.
CHP located, arrested and identified the suspect as 37-year-old Sean Michael Christiansen.
