Vehicle Strikes, Kills Pedestrian Near Carmel Mountain Road Monday
Carmel Valley, CA (January 10, 2022) – A pedestrian died following a traffic accident that occurred on the Interstate 5 Freeway, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Earlier reports indicated a vehicle struck an individual in the northbound side of the freeway. Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was wearing dark clothes; and walking on the right side of I-5 when the horrible crash happened.
Shortly after 9:50 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the accident scene–north of the Interstate 805 junction and south of Carmel Mountain Road. First responders found the victim lying down on the ground. Despite life-saving measures, the pedestrian sadly succumbed to their injuries and died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, officers reportedly shut down five of the seven northbound lanes of I-5 to give way to the investigation. Detectives continue to work to determine liability in the deadly pedestrian accident on Interstate 5 in Carmel Valley.
