Carmela Cuevas-Cruz Killed, 3 Juveniles Injured in Highway 99 Car Accident

September 21, 2018 – One person was killed, and multiple juveniles were injured in a traffic collision on southbound Highway 99 Thursday evening, according to Recordnet.
As per the article, 38-year-old Carmela Cuevas-Cruz was driving a Ford Explorer on the highway at about 6:40 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, the woman lost control of the vehicle and rolled off the highway near Wilson Way exit.
Juveniles Hospitalized After Car Accident Thursday in Stockton
Officials determined there were at least three juveniles inside the Explorer at the time of the crash. Primary reports indicated all three minors were to San Joaquin General Hospital for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries.
Meanwhile, Cuevas-Cruz, of Stockton, reportedly died as a result of the wreck. It was not immediately clear if the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene or at a hospital.
Authorities said they are still determining whether there were other vehicles involved in the deadly accident. Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
