Pedestrian Killed in Car Accident at Del sol and Dennery; Carlos Franco Arrested
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 30, 2018) – Carmelo Figueroa, 66, of San Diego, was struck and killed by a driver Monday morning at the intersection of Del Sol Boulevard and Dennery Road, according to a report by the San Diego ABC 10 News
The pedestrian accident took place in this South Bay community on a road that connects to the Interstate 805 Freeway. The victim had been crossing from the south to the north side of Del Sol boulevard. He was struck by a man in his 20s driving a 2012 Ford Fusion that was traveling eastbound. Sadly the pedestrian died of their injuries at the scene.
The fatal crash was reported about 7:10 a.m. Police closed down the roadway in both directions to investigate.
UPDATE (Aug. 14): Suspected hit-and-run driver, Carlos Franco surrendered Tuesday morning to police and was booked into San Diego Central Jail where he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is facing charges of felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
