Officer Hits Bicyclist at Fair Oaks Boulevard and Retreat Way Wednesday
Carmichael, CA (July 21, 2021) – A bicycle rider suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Retreat Way in Carmichael, the FOX40 News reported.
On Wednesday morning, a Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputy was called to respond to an incident in Carmichael. The officer reportedly drove in reverse to make a turn. In the process, the patrol vehicle backed into a man riding a bicycle.
The force from the impact pushed the cyclist over and across the sidewalk. Per article published online, the bicycle rider landed into some bushes and came to a rest against a curbed planter box.
A witness called for help. Responding medical personnel found the cyclist with injuries. Due to the condition of the victim, an ambulance transported the 65-year-old bicyclist to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, our sources indicated the deputy drove off from the scene to respond to the initial call without stopping.
It remained unclear if authorities are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run. Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to work at this time to determine several factors surrounding the bicycle accident in Carmichael.
