Deputy Badly Hurt in Rollover Crash at Manzanita Avenue and Winding Way Wednesday
Carmichael, CA (April 8, 2021) – A Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office deputy suffered injuries following a car accident in the area of Manzanita Avenue and Winding Way Wednesday, the FOX40 News reported.
Preliminary investigation revealed the officer was responding to another patrol unit involved in a pursuit in Carmichael.
When the responding deputy approached the intersection at Manzanita and Winding Way, the patrol vehicle went through a green light with lights and sirens on. For reasons still unclear, a civilian car entered the intersection at the same time and struck the patrol vehicle.
The force from the impact caused the marked police car to rollover several times.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m., emergency teams arrived at the location and found the deputy outside of the wreckage. The officer was conscious and walking around after the incident. Responding paramedics rendered aid to the injured officer, then transferred him to the hospital for further evaluation.

Meanwhile, our sources indicated police detained the uninjured civilian driver in relation with the incident.
Investigators handling the case continue to work to determine several factors surrounding the patrol car accident in Carmichael.
