Cyclist, 65, Hit and Injured by Deputy on Arden Way Wednesday
Carmichael, CA (July 23, 2021) – A 65-year-old bicycle rider suffered injuries following a traffic accident on Arden Way on July 21, Wednesday.
According to the Sacramento Bee, the cyclist was traveling in the streets of Carmichael at about 9 a.m. The collision happened when the 65-year-old man approached the intersection at Fair Oaks Boulevard.
Preliminary investigation revealed an on-duty Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office deputy backed her patrol vehicle to make a turn to respond to a call. While moving in reverse, the patrol vehicle struck and pushed the bicyclist into the curb.

The force from the impact ejected the 65-year-old man onto the bushes. Responding medical personnel rendered aid to the injured cyclist, then transported him to a hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, our sources indicated the officer continued driving following the collision. No immediate information was available if officials are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run.
The California Highway Patrol is the agency handling the investigation of the bicycle accident on Arden Way in Carmichael.
