Carol Omo Aba Killed in Crash I-215 Freeway in Perris | Driver Arrested

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA (June 3, 2025) — Carol Omo Aba, 30, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on the Interstate 215 Freeway in Perris last week, but now authorities have arrested a suspect who fled the scene.
Woman, 30, Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver
The Perris woman was struck in the southbound lanes of the freeway by a driver in a Ford F-150 pickup truck around 9:35 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, according to the Riverside County Sherriff-Coroner.
According to the California Highway Patrol report the young woman was walking on the freeway from Placentia Avenue at the time of the collision.
The Menifee Police Department, working with the community and other agencies, kicked off an investigation into the crime and located both the truck and driver in Menifee.
Unlicensed Driver Charged with Vehicular Manslaughter
Fernando Velasquez Acosta, 41, of Menifee, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, hit-and-run, driving without a valid license, and vehicular manslaughter, police said.
