Elderly Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Highway 183
DATE OF ACCIDENT: Saturday, April 27th
April 30, 2019 – A 63-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 183 between Castroville and Salinas, according to Monterey Herald.
The collision occurred Saturday, April 27, at approximately 12:33 a.m.
Initials reports indicated the elderly man was attempting to cross the lanes of traffic when he was hit by a passing silver 1998 Lexus ES300 heading north on SR-183.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident in Castroville Saturday
Emergency teams rushed to the location, just past Cooper Road, and found the pedestrian lying unconscious on the roadway. Paramedics performed life saving measures to the victim, but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Per article, authorities will release the name of the deceased once confirmed and next of kin have been notified.
Meanwhile, Annay Reyes, the woman driving the Lexus involved, reportedly stopped following the collision and stayed in the area until police arrived.
California Highway Patrol said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. At this time, further investigation on the case is ongoing.
