Per East County News, a stretch of Atlantic Avenue remained shut down temporarily while authorities collected details and perused the scene.
A forensic examination of both the vehicle and Ms. Kyna Scott, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which party ultimately caused the accident. Others potential factors will be looked into as well including whether or not either the driver or the pedestrian were under the influence at the time of the accident? Was the driver driving recklessly or over the speed limit prior to impact? What were the road conditions and how was the lighting in the vicinity of where the accident occurred? Was the pedestrian in a crosswalk or did she bolt out into the road? Each of these factors will be assessed allowing police officials to draw up a final conclusion.
