Cathe Lawson, 61, Killed in Chico Crash at Highway 32 and Yosemite Drive
CHICO (June 26, 2019) – A driver killed after a traffic collision in the area of Highway 32 and Yosemite Drive Monday has been identified as Cathe Lawson.
Police said the 61-year-old Chico woman was the victim of the tragic accident which was reported on June 24 at around 1:40 p.m.
According to an article by Chico Enterprise-Record, Lawson was driving a Subaru leaving the newer subdivision at Highway 32 and Yosemite when she pulled out from the stop sign.
Lawson then went directly into the path of and collided with a GMC pickup driven by 68-year-old Robert Maxam. The Los Angeles man was headed to Lake Almanor at the time.

Firefighters responded to the scene and extricated Lawson who was trapped inside her car. She was transported to Enloe Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police added that Maxam stopped following the crash and cooperated with the authorities. It was not confirmed if Maxam was hurt upon impact.
Meanwhile, it was believed that Lawson was waiting at a stop sign for a break in traffic on the highway when a driver reportedly stopped and waved her out onto the roadway. The incident remains under investigation.
