1 Killed, 1 Injured in Cathedral City Hit-and-Run at Ramon Road and Crossley Road
CATHDERAL CITY, CA (May 15, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash killed one person and critically injured another at Ramon Road and Crossley Road in Cathedral City.
UPDATE: Motorcyclist Identified; Suspect’s vehicle found.
According to an article published by the KESQ News, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck at about 1:20 a.m.
The incident began when two people were riding a motorcycle west on Ramon Road, approaching Crossley Road, in Cathedral City. At the same time, a pickup truck was going east.
Police said the car then made a north turn onto Crossley for an unknown reason. In the process, the vehicle slammed into the riders.
Driver Hits Motorcycle Riders, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene. They found the male driver and female passenger of the motorcycle down on the ground.
The victims sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon rushed them to the Desert Regional Medical Center, where the driver died.
The passenger ended up in critical but stable condition. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid and fled west on Ramon Road. Officers forced the area of Ramon and Crossley roads to shut down for a time following the hit-and-run crash.
The cause of the fatal Cathedral City wreck is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at 760-770-0300.
