Elver Hernandez, 26, Arrested
CATHEDRAL CITY, California (May 29, 2016) – A motorcyclist was critically injured in an alleged DUI crash at Whispering Palms Trail and Ramon Road on Friday night, according to The Desert Sun. (map)
The collision occurred about 6:40 p.m.
As per the article, police said 26-year-old Elver Hernandez was trying a turning maneuver within the intersection when the motorcycle rider was going east at the same time.
In the process, the truck Hernandez was driving was then struck by the motorcyclist. The truck rolled over and was hit by a sedan.
Police affirmed that the motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital and was listed in critical condition. The name of the victim was not immediately available.
Meanwhile, Hernandez was also hospitalized but was later released. He was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
The 26-year-old Cathedral City man was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning under suspicion of DUI causing great bodily injury with bail set at $1 million.
