Teen Killed, Ramon Ramirez Hospitalized After Pedestrian Accident
BALDWIN PARK, Calif. (Dec. 19, 2017) – Catherine Gomez, 17, of Baldwin Park was killed, her boyfriend, Ramon Ramirez was hospitalized with a broke leg, after the pair were struck by a driver while crossing in a marked crosswalk at Pacific and Vineland avenues, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department.
Police arrested the driver and booked them on suspicion of vehicular
manslaughter after they learned she allegedly ran through a red light.
The incident took place about 9:55 p.m. on Monday night.
Paramedics responded to the scene, but the woman died of her injuries there. The man was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Wrongful Death Accident Investigation
Police are heading up an investigation into liability for this collision and will determine fault.
At this time, they are looking into whether negligence by one or more parties contributed to this accident. It’s unclear at this time whether or not speed, drugs and or alcohol were involved. A dangerous intersection or mechanical failures may also be contributing factors.
