Man Critically Injured in Crash with Cattle Truck
ADELANTO, Calif. (August 28, 2023) — A major injury crash involving a cattle truck and pickup happened Thursday, August 24th at Highway 395 and Air Expressway in Adelanto.
The driver in the cattle truck reportedly drove through a red traffic light around 5:15 a.m. and collided with a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck at the intersection, according to Victor Valley News Group.
Police reported the 2024 Peterbilt semi-truck and trailer was heading north in the No. 2 lane of Highway 395. Meanwhile, the driver in the 2019 Honda Ridgeline was traveling westbound on Air Expressway. The semi-truck hit the Ridgeline’s driver side and upon impact the pickup truck went 20 feet off the roadway. The victim’s pickup wound up with all-over damage on the dirt shoulder on the southbound side of US Highway 395. The cattle truck was found blocking the southbound lanes.
Paramedics responded and rushed the driver of the pickup truck by air ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
The semi-truck driver was not injured and no cattle died in the crash.
Investigators are working on the case to determine what charges to file against the truck driver.
