Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Ontario
ONTARIO, Calif. (June 30, 2023) — A cement truck struck and killed a pedestrian Friday morning in an accident at Archibald Avenue and the on ramp to the eastbound 60 Freeway.
The fatal pedestrian accident occurred in a crosswalk at the Ontario intersection around 8:34 a.m. on June 30th, according to the California Highway Patrol report. The person may have been riding on a bicycle when they were hit by the truck.
The truck driver pulled over to the left side of the on ramp, put his hazard lights on and called 911 for help. The report stated “He is too scared to go check on pedestrian and will stay in the truck.” The bicycle was found stuck underneath the truck.
Paramedics with the Ontario Fire Department responded and located the pedestrian down in the middle of the on ramp deceased.
Caltrans closed down the roadway due to the crash.
Investigators with the CHP are heading up the traffic accident investigation.
