3 Injured in Ceres Crash at Mitchell Road and Whitmore Avenue
CERES, CA (May 20, 2022) – Several were hospitalized after a DUI crash at Mitchell Road and Whitmore Avenue in Ceres.
The Ceres Courier wrote that the accident took place on Saturday, May 14. The incident began when a Hyundai Accent was traveling south at 64 mph on Mitchell Road at Nicholas Way.
The car sped southbound and turned off its headlights as an officer tried to stop it. In the process, the Hyundai slammed into two vehicles at the intersection of Mitchell Road and Whitmore Avenue in Ceres.
Officers described the two cars as a Nissan Pathfinder and a Toyota Camry. A woman in the Nissan complained of abdominal pain as a result of the collision.
Speeding DUI Driver Hits 2 Cars
Paramedics rushed her and two other passengers of the Pathfinder to the Doctors Medical Center for treatment. Two people riding the Toyota declined medical aid.
The report did not disclose the names of the wounded victims and their condition at this time. Officials forced the area of Mitchell and Whitmore to shut down following the wreck.
Meanwhile, officers determined that the speeding driver was under the influence of marijuana when he hit the other vehicles. They soon arrested him.
The Ceres crash is still under investigation.
