Bicycle Rider Charles Carson, 49, Killed in Sacramento State Campus Crash
SACRAMENTO, CA (May 28, 2023) – Bicycle rider Charles Carson was killed after a crash on the Sacramento State campus along State University Drive.
The coroner’s office identified the 49-year-old Sacramento man as the victim in the fatal accident which took place on Saturday.
The incident happened when Charles Anthony Carson was riding a bicycle on the campus of Sacramento State University. For an unknown reason, a car struck him.
Man Hit by Car
The vehicle hit the bicyclist on State University Drive near the American River and Guy West Bridge. The Sacramento Bee and ABC 10 News wrote that the collision occurred on May 27 at about 11:37 a.m.
Charles Carson sustained serious injuries as a result of the bicycle accident. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found him lying in the roadway.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene. Meanwhile, police said the driver stopped and stayed at the site following the incident.
Officers forced a stretch of State University Drive to shut down for a time after the wreck. The cause of the bicycle crash is still under investigation.
