SAN JACINTO, CALIFORNIA (December 26, 2014) — A pedestrian identified as Charles Smith was killed the night of Christmas Eve in a car accident at the intersection of San Jacinto Avenue and Shaver Street, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.

According to the initial police report, the driver of a Ford Expedition was traveling southbound on San Jacinto Avenue when its driver struck the San Jacinto man who was walking in the roadway, the police report said. Paramedics responded to the crash, but Smith died of his injuries at the scene of the accident.

Police say there was no alcohol involved in the crash. However, the San Jacinto Police Department’s Traffic Team are heading up an investigation into the crash and will issue a report with their findings.
