Hit-and-run Suspect Arrested after Pedestrian Accident in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. (March 26, 2020) – Charlette Anne Colton, 50, of Lakewood, was arrested on hit-and-run charges Tuesday after allegedly leaving the scene of a pedestrian accident at Del Amo and Long Beach boulevards.
The driver had reportedly struck two men at the Long Beach intersection about 12:40 p.m. on March 24th, police said.
The men had been standing in the far right lane of Del Amo Boulevard where they were apparently separating towing equipment. That’s when the minivan driven by Colton allegedly crashed into them. Colton then drove off in the minivan without stopping to help the injured men.
Paramedics responded and rushed rushed the two injured men to a hospital where one of them was treated for major injuries.
The suspect was later located after police conducted a search for the vehicle.
Colton was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury and hit-and-run. She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
