Exeter Woman Killed in Crash on Chestnut Avenue
FRESNO, Calif. (Jan. 9, 2019) — Linda Wankum, 72, of Exeter, died and Cheryl Suydam-Taylor, 58, of Fresno, was hurt when Wankum allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into the other woman’s vehicle on Chestnut Avenue on Monday night south of Fresno.
The California Highway Patrol stated the Exeter woman was driving her 2013 Chevy Equinox west on Clayton Avenue when she allegedly drove through a stop sign and crashed into Suydam-Taylor’s 2005 Toyota that was traveling north on Chestnut. The crash took place about 5 p.m.
Next, the two cars both collided with parked and unoccupied 2006 Mercury. The older woman died of her injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, Suydam-Taylor suffered a possible broken leg and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
