Bicycle Rider, 18, Seriously Injured in Chico Truck Crash at West Sacramento and Nord
CHICO, CA (September 7, 2021) – A bicycle rider was seriously injured after a crash with a truck at West Sacramento and Nord avenues in Chico.
According to The Oroville MR and Action News Now, the accident took place on Tuesday morning. Officers reported the collision at around 7:55 a.m.
The incident began when an 18-year-old woman was riding a bicycle in the area of West Sacramento and Nord avenues. Chico police said for an unknown reason, a garbage truck then hit her.
Bicyclist Hit by Garbage Truck
The rider ended up trapped underneath the truck in the intersection. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and soon rescued her.
Medical personnel then took the cyclist to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries to her leg. Officials did not release her name and condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police forced the intersection of West Sacramento and Nord avenues to close following the crash. The cause of the Chico collision is still under investigation.
