Major Injury Collision on Golden State Highway Thursday
Chico, CA (August 26, 2021) – At least one person suffered serious injuries following a traffic accident that occurred early Thursday on State Route 99, also known as Golden State Highway.
The California Highway Patrol group reported two or more vehicles collided on the highway near the East Avenue offramp. Initial records indicated the wreck involved a semi truck, and a Chevrolet pickup.

According to the CHP log, the truck slammed into the rear of the Chevrolet stopped for an unknown reason in the southbound traffic lanes of SR-99. The force from the impact pushed the Chevrolet to roll over approximately 20 feet down the embankment.
Emergency teams arrived at the crash site and found at least one person with major injuries to their head. An ambulance reportedly rushed the patient to a hospital in Enloe for treatment and further evaluation.
Meanwhile, no immediate information was available on the operator of the big rig.
Detectives continue investigate at this time the precise circumstances that led to the car accident in Chico.
