1 Seriously Injured in Chico Crash on Highway 99 at Esplanade
CHICO, CA (March 30, 2022) – At least one was seriously injured after a car crash on Highway 99 and Esplanade in Chico.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Wednesday afternoon. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 2:30 p.m.
The incident happened when two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in the city of Chico. They crashed on Highway 99 at Esplanade.
2 Cars Collide
CHP described the cars as a red Ford Taurus and a Hyundai Elantra. The Ford broke its front-end while the Hyundai obtained major left front-end damage upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics then arrived at the scene in front of the Valero gas station. They found one person who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon took the patient to a hospital for treatment. The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Highway 99 to shut down near Esplanade following the wreck. The cause of the Chico crash is still under investigation.
